COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
Massage Theory (200
hrs.) - Student will learn to give and receive a full body Swedish
Massage. Class format includes theory and history of massage,
demonstration of technique, supervised practice, and guided realization
technique. Emphasis on therapeutic touch.
Anatomy & Physiology (75 hrs.) - Students will learn the structure and function of the body
with all systems addressed. Classes focus on the body's
response to massage.
Kinesiology (50 hrs.) - Students will learn the muscular activity, the anatomy, physiology and mechanics of body movement.
Business Practices & Proffesional Ethics (45
hrs.) - Students will learn vital information regarding the industry
and starting a successful massage business. Topics include: career
options, state law, marketing, record keeping and professionalism.
Pathology (40 hrs.) - Students will learn sturctural and functional changes in the body caused by disease.
Health & Hygiene (20 hrs) - Students will learn the basics of health, hygiene, first aid
and CPR. Topics include proper care of equipment, suppplies,
personal health maintenance through exercise, nutrition and hygiene.
Hydrotherapy (20 hrs.) - Students will learn the history and development of the use
of hydrotherapy from its recorded applications to the current view of
its uses. Also, know the responses from the body in the application of
heat and ice. All aspects of safety and hygiene related to hydrotherapy
are covered.
Internship (50 hrs.) - Students will get an excellent experience working in our
massage clinic. Learning objectives include performing massage on the
public, scheduling appointments, interviewing clients and maintaining
proper records. |
